SOCAR exports almost 15 mln tons of oil from Ceyhan in Jan.-Sept.

The Marketing and Economic Operations Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported 14.89 million tons of oil from the Turkish port of Ceyhan in January - September 2013 compared to 15.5 million tons in January-September 2012, SOCAR said today.

According to the statement, around 1.42 million tons were exported from Ceyhan in September compared to over 1.65 million tons in September last year.

The Marketing and Economic Operations Department exported 20.2 million tons of Azerbaijani oil from the port of Ceyhan in 2012 compared to 22.97 million tons in 2011.

Oil is supplied to the Ceyhan port through the main export pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC).

The BТС's total length is 1.768 kilometers, including a 443-kilometer section running via
Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section traversing Georgia and a 1.076-kilometer section passing through Turkey. The pipeline's construction began in April 2003. First oil was marked on May 18, 2005.

The shareholders of BTC are BP (30.1 per cent), AzBTC (25 per cent), Chevron (8.90 per cent), Statoil (8.71 per cent), TRAO (6.53 per cent), Eni (5 per cent), Total (5 per cent), Itochu (3.40 per cent), Inpex (2.50 per cent), ConocoPhilips (2.50 per cent) and ONGC (2.36 per cent).
