Bolivia's Morales to participate GEFC meeting in Iran

Bolivian President Evo Morales will take part in a gas conference in Iran on November.

Morals to participate in the third meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which is scheduled for November 3, 2015 in Tehran, Mehr News Agency reported Aug.28.

Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela are members of GECF. Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman and Peru have the status of Observer Members.

Heads of 18 GECF member countries will attend the summit to discuss various issues including the global gas market situation, Mohammad Hossein Adeli the forum's secretary general said, the official IRNA news agency reported Dec. 30.

The GECF was founded in 2001 in the Iranian capital Tehran, and its member states control over 70 percent of the world's natural gas reserves as well as more than 80 percent of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production.

The first GECF summit meeting was held in Doha on November 15, 2011.

The legal establishment of the forum took place on December 2008 in Moscow, where energy ministers of member states adopted the forum's charter and signed an intergovernmental agreement.
