South Korean company eyes investing in Uzbekistan's processing sector

South Korean company Sejin G & E plans to invest about $60 million in "green" processing of solid household waste at the Tashkent polygon.

The Uzbek State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection and the South Korean company Sejin G & E will develop a project for recycling and processing of solid domestic waste, generation of landfill gas, power and heat at the Tashkent polygon in the Akhangaran district of the Tashkent region, Uzbek media reports referring to the Committee.

The corresponding memorandum was signed during the Uzbek-Korean business forum Nov.22.

The delegation of the State Committee on Ecology visited the waste-processing plant of the company Sejin G & E in Ansan, engaged in the sorting of solid domestic waste, serving 750,000 people in the city. The annual volume of sorted and processed solid domestic waste is more than 15,000 tons.

This company has introduced technologies that allow sorting up to 80 percent of useful components from solid household waste.
