The volume of uranium extraction in Kazakhstan amounted to 18,700 tons during 10 months of 2019, which is five percent more than during the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy.

According to the forecast of Kazatomprom, the company is planning on producing 22,750-22,800 tons of uranium this year. Forecast sales volume is 15,000-16,000 tons, and expected consolidated revenue is 485-505 billion tenge (approximately $1.24-$1.29 billion).

Kazatomprom is the world's largest producer of uranium, with the company’s attributable production representing approximately 23 percent of global primary uranium production in 2018.

Also, some 14 renewable energy sources of 402 MW capacity (RES) for electricity manufacturing were launched in Kazakhstan during 10 months of 2019.

Launch of another four RES objects of 104.8 MW of capacity is planned before the end of 2019.

The volume of RES electricity manufacturing during the reporting period equaled 1.7 billion kWh, which indicates an increase of 65 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Overall, the number of RES objects increased by 20 objects since 2018 (from 67 to 87), total RES capacity increased by 1.9 times since 2019 (from 537 MW to 1,042 MW).

According to the ministry, some 108 RES object will be operating in Kazakhstan in 2020, total capacity of which will be 1,610 MW.

“The auction for construction of RES objects of 205 MW of capacity was held in September. As a result 12 RES projects were selected, including wind parks (108.99 MW), solar parks (36.5 MW), hydropower plants (seven MW), bioelectric stations (10.4 MW),” the report said.
