Russian company to help Uzbekistan to explore potential of oil, gas fields

Russia's Rosgeologiya will carry out work in Uzbekistan to study the prospects of oil and gas bearing capacity and assess the hydrocarbon potential of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with the reference to the press service of Rosgeologiya.

Following the meeting of Rosgeologiya Chairman Sergey Gorkov and Head of the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources Babur Islamov on Feb. 28, an agreement on understanding for cooperation in the field of subsoil use, the press service reported.

"For practical implementation of the agreement, the parties will consider the establishment of Rosgeologiya subsidiary in Uzbekistan and the establishment of a scientific and technical council to coordinate and assess the effectiveness of joint work," the report said.

Rosgeologiya will also carry out work in Uzbekistan to clarify the geological model, study the prospects for oil and gas content and assessment of hydrocarbon potential for further exploration for the discovery of new fields. In particular, the potential of oil and gas fields in the Aral Sea will be assessed.

"In the sphere of digitalization of mineral resources' management in Uzbekistan, the parties agreed to create a stack of software solutions for processing and analysis of data on the volume and composition of the mineral mass of man-made waste, as well as to assess the effectiveness of the involvement of mineral resources of the country in industrial development through the development of digital geological and economic models," the report added.

Last year, Rosgeologiya offered Uzbekneftegaz technological solutions in geological exploration to implement joint projects in Uzbekistan and third countries.

JSC Rosgeologiya is a Russian state holding company uniting state geological exploration enterprises of the Russia, headquartered in Moscow.
