The alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated about 5.91 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Trend reports citing the report of the Iranian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization.

According to report, while in the 12th month of the current Iranian year (February 19 through March 20, 2021), the alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated 89 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

“As a result of the operation of these power plants in Iran for 12 months, 1.67 billion cubic meters of gas were saved in the consumption of fossil fuels. While in the 12th month, Iran has saved 25 million cubic meters of gas,” the report said.

In addition, 1.3 billion liters of water were saved in Iran as a result of the operation of the alternative renewable energy power plants within 12 months. However, this figure was 19 million liters in the 12th month, the report said.

According to the report, with the operation of these power plants in Iran, the spread of 3.97 million tons of CO2 gas were prevented over the 12 months. This figure was 57,000 tons in the 12th month.

“Over the 12th month, the solar panel stations generated 453-megawatt hours of electricity, wind turbines – 317-megawatt-hours, small hydropower plants – 106 megawatt-hours, waste heat recovery stations – 15.1-megawatt hours, biomass stations - 10.5 megawatt-hours and turbo-expander -19.1megawatt-hours. And these stations accounted for 49, 34, 12, 2, 1, 2 percent of the total generation volume, respectively,” the report said.
