Iran reveals data on power plants to be built across country

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 12

Twelve large companies in Iran's mining sector will build 13 power plants in the country, the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Saeed Zarandi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to Zarandi, the Mobarakeh Steel Company will build the 4th unit of the Mobarakeh Power Plant, which will produce 1,500 megawatt-hours of electricity, and Hormozgan Steel Company will build a 1,500-megawatt/hour power plant in the Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone in Hormozgan Province.

Zarandi added that the Al-Mahdi Aluminum Company will build a 500-megawatt power plant in Hormozgan Province, and the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) – two 800-megawatt power plants in Kerman and West Azerbaijan provinces.

The deputy minister further said that the Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company will build a 1,000-megawatt power plant in Yazd Province, and Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company – a 1,300-megawatt power plant in Kerman Province.

“The South Aluminum Company will build a 500-megawatt power plant in Fars Province, Iranian Aluminum Company – a 500-megawatt power plant in Markazi Province, and Iran Alumina Company – a 140 megawatt power plant in North Khorasan Province,” he said.

The deputy minister stressed that the Asia Water Development Engineering Company will build a 1,000-megawatt power plant near the Bandar Abbas port in Hormozgan Province, Pouya Energy Production and Development Company – a 796-megawatt power plant in Semnan Province, Khuzestan Steel Company – a 500-megawatt power plant in Khuzestan Province and the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) – a 500-megawatt power plant in Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ).

Zarandi also said that the power plants to be built will be able to generate a total of 10,500 megawatt-hours of electricity.
