Iran eyes to increase crude oil refining at petrochemical facilities

The daily crude oil refining at the petrochemical facilities in Iran will double by the end of the next 10 years (March 19, 2032), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Morteza Shah-Mirzaei said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

The deputy minister noted that at present, the crude oil refining capacity of Iran's petrochemical facilities is 1.1 million barrels per day. During the mentioned period, the figure will reach 2.6 million barrels per day.

“As a result, Iran's petrochemical production potential will increase from 90 million tons to about 200 million tons per year,” he added.

Shah-Mirzaei also pointed out that 69 new petrochemical facilities are planned to be commissioned in the country in the next 5 years. The overall physical progress at these facilities is 30 percent.

Starting from the second half of the next Iranian year (August 23, 2022), 39 petrochemical facilities are to be put into operation in the petrochemical sector of Iran.

In total, 50 facilities are to be put into operation in the next 5 years (until March 20, 2026). Of these, 3 facilities are related to the production of mixed fuels, 11 facilities – propylene, and 33 are development facilities.

Iran's annual petrochemical production potential will increase to 136 million tons in five years, and to 167 million tons with the implementation of strategic plans.
