BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 20. In total, $70 billion is currently needed for the construction and launch of 101 facilities in Iran's petrochemical sector, head of the projects department of Iran's National Petrochemical Company Ahmad Shokri said, Trend report referring to Shana News Agency.

He made the remark at the meeting of heads of public relations departments of Iranian petrochemical companies in Tehran on December 20.

Shokri noted that with the launch of the mentioned 101 facilities, 100 million tons will be added to Iran's petrochemical production capacity.

“At present, construction work is being carried out in 67 out of the 101 facilities,” he added.

According to the official, some of these objects are of greater importance to the country. Thus, 22 facilities of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Holding are being built with an investment worth $16 billion. There is a physical progress of over 50 percent in the construction of seven of these facilities.

Shokri also pointed out that 13 petrochemical facilities worth $7 billion owned by Ahdaf Investment Company are being built. Also, 6 petrochemical facilities are being built with an investment of $12 billion by the Parsian Oil and Gas Investment Company.

“Furthermore, 5 petrochemical facilities are being built in the country with an investment of $4 billion by the Petrofarhang Company, as well as 5 petrochemical facilities with an investment of $ 3.2 billion by Shastan Commercial Investment Company, and 5 more petrochemical facilities with the investment of $2 billion by Bakhtar Group Company,” the official said.
