BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 20. Iran's petrochemical sector doubled its hydrocarbon revenues by turning hydrocarbon raw materials into valuable products over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Director of the Planning and Development Department of the Iranian National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Hassan Abbaszadeh said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

He made the remark at the meeting of heads of public relations departments of Iranian petrochemical companies in Tehran on December 20.

According to Abbaszadeh, Iran's petrochemical sector received about $12 billion worth of hydrocarbons as raw materials in the last Iranian year and produced final products worth $23 billion.

The director added that Iran's petrochemical sector received 914,000 barrels of various hydrocarbons daily as raw materials within the last Iranian year, while at the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2023), the figure is expected to reach 1 million barrels per day.

“Currently, Iran's annual petrochemical production capacity is 90 million tons,” he said.

Abbaszadeh noted that in total, 35.7 million tons of petrochemical products were sold within the country and exported. A total of $23 billion worth of revenue was obtained. This figure is expected to increase to $27 billion by the end of the current Iranian year.
