Kazakhstan Prime Minister Keeps Issue Joining BTC on Agenda

The Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan transport and intergovernmental agreement, which is necessary for creating juridical and economical base for transporting Kazakhstan oil through the BTC pipeline, is under way and will be approved soon, the Trend special correspondent in Kazakhstan reports referring Kazmunaygaz Oil Company.

According to the press service of the Kazakhstan government, the Prime Minister of the country Danial Ahmadov keeps the BTC question under consideration and at present, active actions are being carried out on several aspects of intergovernmental agreement.

According to the information provided by Kazmunaygaz, the transportation volume of the Kazakhstan oil through BTC will be around 7-8 million tone a year in the first phase, and the transportation via the Caspian will be realized by means of tankers. As soon as the transportation volume reaches 20m tones a year, then the construction issue of the Aktau - Baku pipeline will be submitted to the discussion.
