BOTAS to replace pipes in Turkish lines

Oil&Gas Materials 7 June 2006 17:32 (UTC +04:00)

BOTAS of Turkey is going to replace some pipes within lines installed in the country with coated pipes in order to prevent illegal pump-out, Trend reports with reference to Turkish media.

Such a decision followed revelation of 150m long tunnel in Konya province, used to steal 22k bbl of oil from one of BOTASs lines.

New pipes cannot be cut a hole in or drilled to branch some illegal line for oil pumping. First step in this direction was made in Bismil area of Diyarbakir province, where NATO fuel pipeline is laid. First consignment of pipes is already ordered in Germany and will be delivered to Turkey in 2007.
