In addition, according to the Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan, Mikhalis Popkovs, main fact is the adequacy of the raw material from Azerbaijan.

"The design capacity of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is 50 mln tons of oil per year and Azerbaijan will ensure this volume in two or three years. Since launching of this pipeline, Azerbaijan fully covered its export potential," the Ambassador said.

The matter is that if Latvia creates a new transport corridor, where it will purchase the raw material to fill up it.

"The position of Kazakhstan is very urgent here even if this country increases the volume of the oil production when a necessity appears to create a new transport corridor, including via the route of Astana-Baku-Cupsa-Odessa-Borda-Plotsk, then an issue appears to construct trans-Caspian pipeline," the Ambassador said.
