Primer:   Azerbaijan’s Oil May be Refined in Belarusian Oil Refineries

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Prime Minister of Belarus, Sergey Sidorski, who came to Azerbaijan on 28 March on an official visit, said that the Governments of Azerbaijan and Belarus discussed the possibilities of the participation of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the projects of "Belarus Oil" Production Unit.

According to him, the Azerbaijani colleagues have made an interest in the projects of Belarus which are planned to be realized in Iran and Venezuela in the near future. "There is a possibility to involve the qualified specialists of Azerbaijan in implementing this work. During the negotiations process held by the experts, we will provide opportunities to the experts who, have rich experiences in oil production and refinery in their countries, to use their experience in Belarus," Sidorski said.

The plan of measures for 2007 includes studying the possibilities to carry out joint investment projects and participate in the tenders on the implementation of geophysical, drilling and other work and establish cultural and technical co-operation.

According to the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Artur Rasizade, the agenda also includes the refinery of the Azerbaijani oil in Belarusian enterprises.

"According to the assessments of the experts, it is productive at the present stage," Rasizade said. He excludes the possibility to transport the Azerbaijani oil to the European markets via Belarus.
