BP Azerbaijan Re-Launches Production from Well in Shah Deniz Field

Azerbaijan, Baku / /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / The Head of BP Azerbaijan, Bill Schrader, said on 29 May during a press conference that they re-launched well production on gaseous condensate field of Shah Deniz after implementation of technical work. The production in the well been ceased in February due to a gas leak.

The gas and condensate in the field of Shah Deniz is currently produced from two wells.

According to Schrader, the daily production from the well equals 5.2 mln cu.m. There are plans to increase daily production volume to 9 mln cu.m.

"One more well will be launched in the field over the next two weeks," he said.

"8.6 bln cu.m of gas will be produced within Phase-1 of the development project of "Shah Deniz". In 2007 2.8 bln cu.m of gas will be produced from "Shah Deniz".

The contract on the development of the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed on 4 June 1996.

The participants in the contract are BP (operator) -25.5%, Statoil - 25.5%, NICO - 10%, Total - 10%, LukAgip - 10%, TPAO- 9% and SOCAR - 10%.
