Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aghayeva / The transportation of Caspian energy resources to Europe will be discussed in Baku during the visit of the Austrian Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Labour, Martin Bartenstein, on 19-20 September, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Austria, Fuad Ismayilov, reported from Vienna on 15 August.
The purpose of the visit is to discuss cooperation priorities of the two countries in the energy sector. The parties will also discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation and will define the priorities in the fields favourable for cooperation.
The Minister's visitation program is being scheduled, the Ambassador said.
Austria is a country hoping to import and re-export gas via the Nabucco pipeline with the length of 4,000km. The pipeline will also supply Central Asian and Caspian gas to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania. The pipeline is expected to be put into operation in 2011. The project is assessed at €5bln. Nabucco is being designed by Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Turkish Botas, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, and Romanian Transgaz companies.
