Money transfers from Kazakhstan abroad up by over 23%

The volume of remittances sent abroad from Kazakhstan through the money transfer systems amounted to 553.5 billion tenge in January-November 2018, Trend reports citing Ranking.kz.

This is 23.2 percent more than in the same period of 2017.

In November, the volume of remittances totaled 54.3 billion tenge, which is 7.9 percent more year-on-year, but 11.8 percent less than in October 2018.

Most of the transfers went to Russia (213.1 billion tenge, 24.2 percent up year-on-year). The country's share rose from 38.2 to 38.5 percent year-on-year out of the total funds sent abroad from Kazakhstan.

Uzbekistan ranked second with 104.8 billion tenge, 25.6 percent up. Its share grew from 18.6 to 18.9 percent.

Turkey was third – 64.6 billion tenge, 87.5 percent up. The country’s share rose from 7.7 to 11.7 percent.

As for the money transfer systems that Kazakhs used for their remittances abroad, KoronaPay accounted for the largest share of transactions (65.9 percent), followed by Western Union (12.8 percent) and Unistream (7.3 percent).
