Volume of loans issued by commercial banks of Georgia decreases

The volume of loans issued by commercial banks of Georgia (excluding interbank loans) in January 2020 decreased by 3.01 million lari ($1.07 million) or by 0.01 percent compared to December 2019, Trend reports via National Bank of Georgia.

The volume of loans issued by commercial banks constituted 31.92 billion lari ($11.4 billion) by February 1, 2020.

The volume of loans in national currency increased by 10.45 million lari ($3.7 million) or by 0.07 percent and the volume of loans in foreign currency decreased by 13.46 million lari ($4.8 million) or by 0.08 percent in the same period.

By the end of January 2020, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 4.54 billion lari ($1.6 billion), 0.83 percent less compared to December 2019, and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 10.69 billion lari ($3.8 billion).

During January 2020, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 0.33 percent or 51.97 million lari ($18.5 million), and constituted 15.89 billion lari ($5.6 billion) by February 1, 2020.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 44.66 percent by February 1, 2020 and increased by 0.04 percentage point, compared to January 1, 2020.
