Azerbaijan sees production growth in industrial zones

The production volume in industrial zones of Azerbaijan reached 1.006 billion manat ($591.7 million) in 2019, Trend reports on April 14 referring to a report on the activity of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers in 2019.

The production volume in industrial zones increased by 2.6 times in 2019 compared to 2018.

Thus, 127 orders on the allocation of a total of 995.4 million manat ($585.5 million) from the reserve fund of the Azerbaijani president were signed in 2019.

As part of the visits to the Absheron, Beylagan, Agdash, Shamakhi, Gobustan, Agsu, Gabala, Gusar districts and Sumgayit city, the president attended the opening ceremonies of more than 70 new enterprises, roads, power plants, water supply facilities, healthcare facilities, educational facilities and other socio-economic facilities.

SOCAR Carbamide plant and SOCAR Polymer plant producing polyethylene were commissioned in Azerbaijan’s Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in 2019.

The number of operating enterprises in the industrial park has reached 13. The carbamide plant is capable of producing 650,000-660,000 tons of carbamide per year while the polyethylene plant – 120,000 tons of high density polyethylene.

Five enterprises received a status of resident in the Pirallahi Industrial Park, created with the aim of organizing local production in the pharmaceutical industry. Diamed Co. syringe manufacturing plant was commissioned on May 16, 2019, with the participation of the president. The plant has a production capacity of 150 million syringes per year.

So far, 83 residents have been registered in five industrial parks and five industrial zones of the country. Moreover, 12 residents operate in three high-tech parks.

As of 2019, 46 enterprises in industrial parks with total investments worth about $3.8 billion were registered as residents, of which 25 enterprises launched the production activity. More than $3.4 billion of these investments were made in the projects. As a result, more than 8,000 permanent job places were created.

The entrepreneurs invested more than 65 million manat ($38 million) in industrial zones in 2019. After the full implementation of the projects in all industrial zones, this figure is expected to reach 137 million manat ($80 million) and more than 2,000 jobs are expected to be created.
