Azerbaijan reveals share of private sector in import

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17

Azerbaijan imported products worth over $4.1 billion from January through May 2020, which is 28.6 percent less than in the same period of 2019, Trend reports on June 17 referring to Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

In May 2020, the volume of imports increased by 23.2 percent, compared to the period from January through April this year, and the rate of annual decline - by 80 percent.

During the first 5 months, the share of public sector in import amounted to $725.3 million, which is about 17.4 percent of the total volume, while private sector - $3 billion or 73.6 percent of the total volume, and the remaining $374 million or 9 percent accounted for individuals.

In total, Azerbaijan exported 1,785 types and imported 6,691 types of goods, conducting trade operations with 166 countries.

From January through May 2020, Azerbaijan mostly imported machinery, electric tools, equipment and its parts, land vehicles (except for railway and tram vehicles), as well as their parts and accessories, ferrous metal and products from it.
