Volume of cashless transactions in Azerbaijan growing

The total volume of transactions with payment cards throughout Azerbaijan grew by 26 percent in 2020 compared to 2019, and the volume of non-cash payments - by 34 percent as a result of measures to increase digital payments in the country, Trend reports on Mar.3 referring to the Central Bank (CBA).

According to the CBA, the number of transactions through e-commerce in Azerbaijan rose by 55 percent, and their volume - by 22 percent.

Besides, the number and volume of contactless payments exceeded the indicators of 2019 by 4.3 and 5.4 times, respectively.

Overall, in 2020, the number of operations on debit and credit cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan reached 226.45 million and exceeded 28.9 billion manat ($17 billion), which is 24.6 percent more than a year before.
