Azerbaijan, Baku, April 12 / Trend, H.Valiyev /
B&BTV Communications obtained a license (TRŞ № 0004101) from the Television and Radio Council of the Nakhchivan AR to render digital services to cable and broadcast television, B&BTV Communications reported.
The granted license has been valid since April 9.
Under the document, "B & BTV Communications" began working on creating an infrastructure for broadcasting local and foreign channels in digital format throughout the Nakhichivan AR territory.
Work is conducted within the "Program of development of digital broadcasting DVB-T in Azerbaijani territory", which was adopted by the Azerbaijani government.
The program envisages solving issues in the country's broadcasting infrastructure development, as well as ensuring and strengthening national air-space and information security, and other such issues.
Switching to digital broadcasting will be realized in two stages while maintaining the analog one.
The first stage covering 2011-2012 includes ensuring broadcasting of at least one open package (8-12 channels) in Baku, Ganja, Nakhchivan and the border areas of the country, with the expected digital broadcasting coverage for 60-70 percent of the population.
The second stage, covering 2013, includes installation of digital transmitters to broadcast two, three or more packages (each 8-12 channels), which include state, public, private and regional channels, as well as ones of interest for the population.
