Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept.19 / Trend, H. Valiyev /

Austria is interested in renting an Azerbaijani telecommunications satellite Azerspace facility, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's International Relations Department Head Ayaz Bayramov told journalists.

He said this issue is included in the agenda for talks between the two countries.

"The question carries a commercial character, so we are planning to implement further research and to learn more about prospects for cooperation in this sphere," Bayramov said.
Azerbaijan is preparing to launch two satellites into orbit. The first telecommunications satellite Azerspace will be launched into the geostationary orbit in late 2012.

Azerspace's manufacturer is Orbital Sciences Corporation. The space in orbital position of 46 degrees east longitude has been leased from the Malaysian satellite operator MEASAT. French Arianspace will send the satellite into orbit.

The second satellite will be low-orbit, and used for remote sensing mapping studies, geological studies, and other work. It is scheduled to be launched into orbit in 2014.
