The Baku Telephone Communication Company (Baktelecom) Production Association has installed Facebook cache servers in its data processing center, a source in Azerbaijan’s telecommunications market told Trend.
Installing Facebook cache servers in the company will allow users of social networks to instantly connect to content and download it much easier and faster.
The content is downloaded not from servers located abroad, but directly from servers installed in Baktelecom.
Besides, this also allows the operator to save the traffic purchased abroad by using it more optimally.
The Facebook penetration rate among Internet users in Azerbaijan is 18.1 percent, according to the Internet World Stats (IWS), an organization for world internet usage statistics.
Facebook in Azerbaijan is used by 1.8 million people (considering the country’s population - over 9.92 million people), according to the IWS.
