Azerbaijan’s Azercosmos OJSC satellite operator presented projects completed by the result of 2019, a source of company told Trend.

This year, domestic satellites Azerspace-1 and Azerspace-2, Azercosmos and Azersky-2 operators offer satellite services in developing Asian and African regions.

Despite the fact that Azerspace-2, launched into orbit in September 2018, began commercial activity in February 2019, Azercosmos has already entered the market of television broadcasts and DTН (direct to home - direct home satellite broadcasting) in the African region. Next year, fruitful cooperation with companies from African countries will also continue.

In 2019, within the framework of the State Program for the Development of Remote Earth Observation Services via Satellites in Azerbaijan for 2019-2022, approved by the head of state last year, intensive work was carried out in the field of agriculture, ecology and other fields.

Since 2018, Azercosmos jointly with the Ministry of Education, annually holds the CanSat Azerbaycan student satellite contest. As part of this competition, teams consisting of students from Baku and regional universities are developing model satellites and launch them into the sky.

At the same time, during the election to the General Assembly of the International Federation of Astronauts held in the US capital, Washington, Baku received the right to host the International Astronautical Congress in 2022, the source of Azercosmos told Trend.
