Number of international travelers to Georgia increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 4

Some 670,100 visits by international travelers (who stay in a country for more than six months not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) were made in Georgia in November of this year, which is 12 percent more compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

The number of international visitors (non-resident travelers of age 15 or older, who visited Georgia from their area of residence) reached 543,100, which is 11.9 percent more compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the number of tourist (visitor who spent at least one night in Georgia) visits reached 338,800, which is 10.3 percent more compared to last year.

Most of the international visits in November were made from Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey.

From January through November 2019, visits of international travelers have reached a new historical level - 8.6 million (an increase of 7.2 percent).

Over the same period, the number of international visitors amounted to more than 7.1 million (an increase of 6.6 percent), and the number of tourist visits reached more than 4.7 million (an increase of 6.3 percent).

"Despite a certain decrease in growth rates over the past months, in general, positive trends in the tourism sector are maintained and strengthened," the Georgian National Tourism Administration said.
