BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 3
Trend:
Germany’s DB Schenker logistics company (a division of Deutsche Bahn AG, the German railway monopolist specializing in logistics) plans to open a branch in Baku, Trend reports with reference to the China Logist website.
A local agent has already been acquired in Azerbaijan, which will be integrated into the DB Schenker network over the next two months, according to the report.
“The Caucasian and Central Asian regions located at the intersection of the main trade routes form an economic bridge between Asia and Europe,” said DB Schenker CEO in Europe Helmut Schweighofer. “DB Schenker will use this potential in Europe. The company is creating a network of national country organizations in the Caucasus and Central Asia.”
CEO of DB Schenker Jochen Tewes said that the Caucasian and Central Asian countries offer great opportunities, and the company will integrate them into its European and international networks.
In July 2019, the company already established a DB Schenker division in Kazakhstan. A number of countries will be added to it. Azerbaijan will enter the company’s cluster office for Southeastern Europe.
