BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.1

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Currently, a larger volume of cargo is being prepared for transportation along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, said Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Fatma Seren Yazgan, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

“We will discuss how it is possible to supply medical equipment so that the demand is met. We are also trying to ensure that joint businesses and investments are not affected by the crisis,” Fatma Seren Yazgan said.

According to the ambassador, two large Turkish companies have contributed more than 700,000 lari ($213,771) to the Georgian StopCov fund created on March 23 to help vulnerable groups of the populations during the coronavirus outbreak in Georgia.

A solemn ceremony on the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was held at the Baku International Sea Trade Port Complex on October 30, 2017.

The BTK railway was built on the basis of the Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish interstate agreement. At the initial stage, the volume of cargo transportation will be at the level of 6.5 million tons of cargo, and about 1 million passengers will also be transported.
