Coal export increase observed in Kazakhstan

Some 21.5 million tons of cargo were transported via Kazakhstan Railways network in March 2020, which is 4.3 percent more compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan Railways.

The company’s data said that nine million tons of coal were transported during the reporting month, which is 6.9 percent more compared to the same month of 2019, and 6.4 million tons of the total coal volume were exported, which is 4.3 percent more compared to the same month of 2019.

Some 890,000 tons of grain were also transported during March 2020. Transportation volume of chemical fertilizers increased by 6.8 percent, of non-ferrous ore and sulfur by 13 percent, of construction cargo by17 percent, of iron and manganese ores by 3 percent.

In turn, total transportation of cargo via Kazakhstan Railways amounted to 60 million during 1Q2020.

This includes 26 million tons of cargo, 2.2 million tons of grain, 5 million tons of non-ferrous ore and sulfur, 3.5 million tons of construction cargo, and six million tons of iron and manganese ores.

Cargo turnover of Kazakhstan Railways amounted to 54.7 billion ton-kilometers during 1Q2020, which also is 2.2 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.
