Cargo transit to Azerbaijan via Kazakhstan railways up

The volume of cargo transit to and from Azerbaijan via Kazakhstan’s railways amounted to 5,170 tons during first two months of 2020, which is 2,920 tons more compared to the same period of last year (2,250 tons), representative of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development told Trend.

This is including 4,420 tons of transit to Azerbaijan (increase by 2,500 tons) and 750 tons of transit from Azerbaijan (increase by 420 tons).

The increase of chemical industry goods and soda transit from Azerbaijan was observed, the transit volume of which amounted to 120 tons during the reporting period; transit of chemical industry goods and soda was not carried out from Azerbaijan during the same period of 2019.

The official said that transit of chemical industry goods and soda to Azerbaijan via Kazakhstan railways increased by 190 tons, having amounted to 290 tons during first two months of 2020.

Transit of ferrous metals to Azerbaijan via Kazakhstan railways amounted to 570 tons, which is 450 tons more than during the same period of 2019. Significant increase in other cargo transit was observed, which increased to 3,560 tons compared to 1,390 tons over first two months of 2019 (increase of 2,170 tons).

The ministry added that the volume of cargo transit to and from Azerbaijan via Kazakhstan railways was 38,650 tons in 2019, which was 12,640 tons more compared to 2018 (26,020 tons).

Thus, transit of cargo to Azerbaijan was 30,320 tons, which was 11,770 tons more than in 2018 (18,550 tons), whereas transit of cargo from Azerbaijan was 8,330 tons, which was 870 tons more than in 2018 (7,400 tons).
