Renewal of Baku International Bus Terminal's fleet to resume in post-pandemic period

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.3

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The main flow of passenger traffic in Azerbaijan will fall on buses due to the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic-related quarantine measures and the opening of the inter-district transport communication, car expert Elmaddin Muradli told Trend on Feb.3.

According to Muradli, due to the quarantine measures taken in the country, the activities of the country's international bus terminal complex have been suspended, and for this reason, both entrepreneurs and legal entities carry out passenger transportation using personal microbuses.

"Passengers, despite the higher cost of transportation by miсrobuses, based on comfort and faster arrival at their destination, use private transportation services," he said.

The expert noted that most of the buses departing from the international bus terminal meet modern requirements.

“By the decision of the Baku Transport Agency and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan, conditions were set for the passenger carriers to update the bus fleet," he stressed.

According to him, within this decision, in the period before the pandemic, the carriers carried out certain work in this direction.

"Several carriers of the international bus terminal have already been in talks to renew their fleet. I hope this process will resume in the post-pandemic period," added Muradli.
