The value of railway cargo transportation carried out by Azerbaijan from January through July 2021 rose, Trend reports on Aug.23 citing a report from the State Customs Committee (SCC).
According to the committee, this showing exceeded $1.6 billion, up almost 14 percent on annual basis.
In the first seven months of this year, over 3.7 million tons of cargo have been transported by rails, which is 1.35 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the committee said.
The volume of export cargo transportation by rails surpassed 1.7 million tons, and the value stood at $572.4 million (a surge of 115 percent), the SCC report said.
At the same time, the volume of imports by rails amounted to 2.05 million tons, and the value - over $1 million (a decrease of 9.2 percent), added the committee.
As earlier reported, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January to July 2021 made up nearly $17.7 billion. Of these, exports accounted for $11.39 billion, and imports – nearly $6.3 billion.
