BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. The volume of essential goods, including, wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, rice, sugar and cooking oils unloaded at Iranian ports increased by 26 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Trend reports via the report of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, in total, more than 26.4 million tons of essential goods were unloaded at Iranian ports last Iranian year.

About 6.39 million tons of wheat were unloaded at the country’s ports within the mentioned period. This is an increase of 80 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. Thus, about 3.56 million tons of wheat had been unloaded at Iranian ports in the preceding Iranian year.

“In addition, 3.08 million tons of barley were unloaded at Iranian ports last Iranian year. This is an increase of 78 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 1.73 million tons in the preceding Iranian year,” the report said.

At the same time, about 9.68 million tons of corn were unloaded at Iranian ports during the reporting period, which is an increase of 4 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (9.33 million tons).

Moreover, about 4.33 million tons of soybeans were unloaded at the country’s ports within last Iranian year, which is an increase of 11 percent, compared to the preceding Iranian year. Meanwhile in the preceding Iranian year, the figure amounted to 3.91 million tons.

According to the report, about 316,000 tons of rice were unloaded at Iranian ports over last Iranian year. The figure was 214,000 tons in the preceding Iranian year. This means a 47-percent increase.

Also, about 1.03 million tons of sugar were unloaded at Iranian ports for the reporting period. This is a decrease of 10 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (1.15 million tons).

Furthermore, 1.59 million tons of cooking oils were unloaded at Iranian ports last Iranian year, which is an increase 45 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 1.1 million tons in the preceding Iranian year.
