BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. A total of 276.2 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in April 2022, which is 5.7 percent more than in April 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
In turn, the volume of cargo transported over four months of 2022 amounted to 1.1 billion tons, which is 4.5 percent more year-on-year compared to 1.07 billion tons over the same period of last year.
Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 56.1 million tons in april and 221.5 million tons over the reporting period of 2022, which is 11.1 percent and 6.2 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.
Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 48.6 million tons transported in April 2022 (up by 9.6 percent compared to April 2021). The volume of cargo transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 196.1 million tons, which compared to 188.8 million during the same period last year, indicates a 3.9-percent increase.
Almaty city takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in April 2022 (20.7 million tons, up by 8.6 percent). The volume of cargo transported in the city over the period from January through April 2022 amounted to 86.1 million tons, which is 4.7 percent more than during the same period last year (82.3 million tons).
The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 3.9 million tons of cargo in April 2022, which is 14.6 percent more than in April 2021. The volume of cargo transported from January through April 2022 was 14.8 million tons, which is 2.9 percent more year-on-year.
