The integration in the CIS area is gaining momentum, First Deputy Chairman of Atameken Kazakh National Economic Chamber board Rahim Oshakbaev said today.
Oshakbaev said this during the discussions in Astana on Wednesday, while participating in the video conference Astana - Moscow - Kiev - Chisinau - Yerevan - Baku on "Perspectives of integration processes in the post-Soviet space", dedicated to the Summit of Heads of the CIS member-states.
"I do not agree with previous speakers (Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan) that the integration has been slowed in the CIS area," he said. We see that it is gaining momentum."
He said that the potential of the agreements signed between the CIS countries is huge, and it is far from full realization. The problem is that in practice, the countries faced with the need to synchronize the legislative acts, taxes, and other barriers that hamper promotion of the Kazakh goods in the Customs Union countries.
"Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus will have to remove all the roughness in the process in the next two - three years," he said. "Entrepreneurs and economy must adapt to the new rules of the game, which will operate under a single economic space."
He recalled that Russia became a WTO member. Kazakhstan intends to join the organization.
"We realized that we must adapt to the international requirements and the work in this direction is underway," he said. "I believe that the integration is rapidly implemented in the CIS area. If the number of members of the Customs Union had been more than it is now, I think, it would be impossible to agree. So, if we talk about the prospects of Eurasian integration, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus will move forward, adapt their economies and create the Customs Code in the nearest years. The rest CIS countries will join the big legal basis in the future."
