Kazakhstan discloses volume of revenues to state budget in 1Q2024

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 2. From January through March 2024, the volume of revenues to Kazakhstan's state budget amounted to 4.5 trillion tenge (about $10.2 billion), Finance Minister Madi Takiev said, Trend reports.

He made the remark during a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

"Based on three months' results, the state budget received about 4.5 trillion tenge. The country is also working to optimize unproductive budget expenditures," he said.

He stated that the analysis for the current financial year suggested reducing expenditure items by more than 300 billion tenge, or about $680 million. "These funds will be redirected to activities with maximum economic impact.," he said.

He also informed Tokayev about the measures being taken to improve the efficiency of budget management, which are reflected in the new Budget Code.

In addition, Takiev spoke about innovations in tax administration. According to the minister, the draft of the new Tax Code provides for a service model of tax administration, rules to reduce the number of inspections, and changes in approaches to the implementation of desk control and collection of tax debts.

The minister was also informed about plans to reform the public procurement system. As he noted, the draft of the new law “On Public Procurement” provides for the simplification and de-bureaucratization of procurement procedures, the demonopolization of the construction market, and the transfer of all state and quasi-state organizations to a single procurement platform.

Moreover, the minister spoke about the modernization of the customs infrastructure located at the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) with third countries.

"The implementation of this project will increase throughput up to six times, reduce travel time by two times, and monitor the inspection of goods and vehicles online around the clock." The reconstruction of all checkpoints is planned to be completed at the end of 2024," he said.
