Kyrgyzstan steps up border security measures after series of terrorist acts in southern Kazakhstan

The State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan made the decision to step up security measures on the border with Kazakhstan and border crossing points, CA-NEWS reported.

Unidentified individuals organized a series of blasts near local government building, national security department, vital statistics registration office, central supermarket and a store on November 12 at 9.30 am in Taraz, southern Kazakhstan. There are casualties among civilians and police officers. A hunting store was taken over prior to the terrorist act. One of suspects exploded himself to avoid his detention and died on the scene.

The police forces and national security officers of Kazakhstan work now to detain organizers of the terrorist acts and to prevent their terrorist plans.

The State National Security Committee made the decision to step up security on the state border to bar perpetrators from fleeing to Kyrgyzstan.
