BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 28. Swiss Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Olivier Bangerter and UN World Food Program Country Director Kojiro Nakai signed an agreement to support local rural communities on June 28, Trend reports via the Embassy of Switzerland in Kyrgyzstan.

Switzerland will allocate $2.2 million to increase the resilience of vulnerable rural communities in Kyrgyzstan to climate change and natural disaster risks.

It is expected that about 50,000 most vulnerable households in the Osh, Batken and Naryn regions of Kyrgyzstan will receive support.

Earlier, Switzerland allocated $6 million for the implementation of the Naryn Urban Resilience project in Kyrgyzstan which aims to make Naryn city's population, infrastructure, and economy more resilient to the risks of disaster and climate change.
