BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan are willing to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania told Trend
"Kyrgyzstan, a country situated in the Tian Shan and Pamir mountain ranges, is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Lithuanians. Similarly, Lithuania, renowned for its healthcare resorts, has the potential to become an attractive choice for the people of Kyrgyzstan," the source pointed out.
It was noted that Members of the Lithuanian Mountaineering Association often participate in mountain climbing expeditions in Kyrgyzstan. A notable example of mutual cooperation is the initiative to officially name three summits in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, which were first climbed by Lithuanian climbers, as the "Peak of Kyrgyz-Lithuanian Friendship," the "Aryk Myrza Peak" and the "Peak of the Millennium of Lithuania."
The source at the Ministry emphasized that while all areas of cooperation are important, the engineering industry stands out as having the most promising export opportunities.
"This includes various machines and equipment, with a focus on medical and laboratory equipment, sewing machines, machinery for the food industry, and cargo handling equipment. In addition, there are opportunities in the production of rubber and plastic products, electrical equipment, including various components of electric circuits and electric heaters, and automotive parts," the source said," the source added.
According to Lithuanian statistics, in 2022, Kyrgyzstan ranked 30th in terms of trade turnover among Lithuania's 211 trading partners, with trade turnover between the countries amounting to 372 million euros.
Kyrgyzstan was Lithuania's 24th largest export partner, with exports from Lithuania to Kyrgyzstan reaching 325 million euros. The country held the 45th position among Lithuania's import partners, with Lithuania importing goods worth 47 million euros from Kyrgyzstan.
