During an official visit to the Mary region of Turkmenistan, the country's president, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid attention to the shortcomings in the agricultural sector, says the message of the Turkmen government.
"Up until now, in three regions, the plan on raw cotton harvesting has not been completed," said the message.
Harvesting the remaining crops in cotton fields is not on the proper level, head of state underlined.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan presented its report on the issue.
“Due to the favorable weather conditions in this region, there is still enough harvest on the cotton fields. Good climate conditions stipulate the opening of cotton capsules, which need the increase collecting of remaining crops in the fields”, said the report.
During the revisions it was established, that there are all possibilities to collect extra harvest by using manual harvesting and cotton harvesters.
It was noted that similar situation is observed in other regions of the country, and there is all possibility to collect harvest without any loss.
The Turkmen president drew attention to the importance of rational use of water resources, taking into consideration specific soil and climate conditions of the region.
Cotton makes up weighty part of Turkmen exports and is a demanded raw material for dozens of modern enterprises dynamically developing in the country’s textile industry.
Overall area of cultivated land is more than 500,000 hectares.
