BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. The livestock farms of the Lebap region located in the east of Turkmenistan contain more than 159,500 heads of sheep at the beginning of March this year, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, this season it is planned to receive 73,700 lambs from 80,200 sheep in the region.

In the farms of the Lebap region, offspring were obtained at the level of 11,000 lambs until the beginning of March. The main livestock farms engaged in sheep breeding in the region are Garagum and Koytendag.

A lot of work is being done in Turkmenistan to develop animal husbandry, increase the number of livestock, produce meat and dairy products, and strengthen the feed base of the industry. The improvement of local livestock enterprises continues.

Most of the livestock production is accounted for by the private sector of Turkmenistan.
