BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. Non-oil products rose 58 percent in value and 132 percent in weight in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) through Khorramshahr Customs in Khuzestan Province in southwestern Iran compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), Director General of Iran's Customs Administration Khorramshahr Gholamreza Nikraftar said, Trend reports.
According to him, 2.44 million tons of non-oil products worth about $205 million were exported to Iran through Khorramshahr Customs last year.
Nikraftar noted that cement, rebar, gypsum, fruits, vegetables, etc. were mainly exported through Khorramshahr customs. The products were exported mainly to Iraq and Kuwait.
The official stated that 165,000 tons of products worth $814 million were imported through Khorramshahr Customs last year. The import of products increased by 8 percent in value and 30 percent in weight.
Nikraftar added that the main products imported last year were fabric, tires, and various types of equipment. These products are mainly imported from China, the UAE, Taiwan, Indonesia, and South Korea.
Besides, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's non-oil exports last year amounted to more than 136 million tons worth $49.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 9.82 percent in weight terms.
To note, according to the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration, imports of products to Iran in the last Iranian year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. Product imports increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
