BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. A total of 60,000 tons of guaranteed wheat were purchased from farmers in Fars Province, located in southern Iran, from April 9 through 30, head of the Fars Province Department of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran., Kazim Mousavi said, Trend reports.
According to him, the process of purchasing guaranteed wheat in the province is currently underway at an accelerated pace. To this end, 100 procurement centers have been established in the province.
Mousavi noted that 618,000 tons of guaranteed wheat were purchased from farmers in Fars Province last year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
Meanwhile, for the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 1 kg of wheat in Iran is purchased under the guarantee of the State Trading Company for 175,000–180,000 rials (about $4.17–$4.3).
To note, the State Trading Company of Iran purchased a total of 7.2 million tons of wheat last year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
