Iran's Central Oil Zones to increase gas production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. Gas production in Iran's central oil zones will increase by 55 million cubic meters daily, Trend reports.

According to the information, memoranda of understanding were signed recently on the development of Zireh, Khartang, Sefid Zakhor, Sefid Baghun, Halegan, and western Asaluyeh gas fields located in the territory of Iran's Central Oil Zones Company and investments in the construction of a gas pressurization station in the Kangan gas field worth $1.6 billion.

The memoranda of understanding were signed between Iran's National Oil Company and Petro Kaveh, Parsian Neft-Gas Development, Petropars, and Navid Chimi.

Central Oil Zones operates 84 oil and gas fields in 11 provinces of Iran. To date, 13 gas fields and 13 oil fields are being developed. The maximum production potential of Central Oil Zones Company is about 250,000 barrels of crude oil and 250 million cubic meters of gas daily.

A memorandum of understanding worth $6.4 billion was signed in Tehran on April 30 between the National Gas Company of Iran and local companies to increase gas production by 127 million cubic meters per day.

To note, Iran is considered the world's second-largest gas reserve country, with gas reserves of about 34 trillion cubic meters. Presently, 22 gas fields are operating in Iran. Iran produces 1.07 billion cubic meters of rich gas daily from its gas fields.
