Uzbek Republican Commodity reveals volume of goods sold within Apr. 19-25

Goods worth 1.64 billion soums ($155,673) were sold on all trading platforms of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) for the period from April 19 to 25, which is 3.9 percent less than last week, Trend reports referring to UZEX.

According to UZEX, the total volume of transactions involving small businesses and private entrepreneurship amounted to 703.5 billion soums ($67 million). As a result of electronic auctions for public procurement, the total savings of budgetary and corporate customers amounted to 34.2 billion soums ($3.2 million).

It is reported that during the reporting period commodity resources worth 1.424 billion ($135,170) soums were sold at open exchange auctions.

Thus, last week, 7,554 tons of cottonseed oil were displayed, of which 2,886 tons, or 50.7 percent, were sold. On average, 93 buyers took part in the exchange trades daily.

Last week, 1,642 tons of cottonseed oil were sold at the exchange, which is 21 percent less than in the previous week. On average, 156 buyers took part in the exchange trades daily.

It is noted that the daily average price for all varieties of cottonseed oil during the period under review decreased from 17,348 soums ($1.65) to 17,013 soums ($1.61) per ton, or by two percent. By the end of the week, the weekly quotation of the first grade of cottonseed oil amounted to 17,409 soums ($1.65) per ton.

UZEX notes that today, market-based methods are used to stabilize domestic prices for cottonseed oil. In particular, to maintain a balance of supply and demand, imported vegetable oil is put up for exchange trading.

At present, about 116 tons of vegetable oil from Belarus and 60 tons of sunflower oil of Ukrainian origin are put up daily for exchange trading through foreign trading platforms of the exchange.

The high level of demand remains on the sugar exchange market. During the past week, 8,110 tons of sugar were put up for sale, of which the entire volume was sold.

At the same time, an average of 163 buyers took part in the exchange auctions daily, which is 27.3 percent more than in the previous week.

Against this background, during the period under review, the daily average price for sugar of all categories increased from 7,463 soums ($0.71) to 7,691 soums ($0.73), that is, by three percent per ton. As a result of exchange trading, the weekly weighted average price for local sugar of the third category amounted to 7,604 soums per ton.

In addition, during the past week, 243,492 tons of cement were put up for sale, of which 224,783 tons, or 92.1 percent, were sold. The daily volume of cement sales averaged 45,000 tons.

During the period under review, the daily average price for cement of all categories almost slightly decreased from 579,100 soums ($54.97) to 572,000 soums ($54.3), or by 1.3 percent per ton.
