TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 5. Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Metro and TMH International, specializing in the production of railway equipment, signed an agreement for the supply of subway cars from Russia to Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
The memorandum was signed on the sidelines of the third Interregional Cooperation Forum between Russia and Uzbekistan in Russia’s Kazan.
In his remarks about the signed agreement, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev highlighted the ongoing expansion of industrial collaboration between the two countries in sectors like machinery, electrical engineering, and chemicals, as well as in vital areas such as fuel and energy, mining, metallurgy, agriculture, and textiles.
“Russia remains one of Uzbekistan's main trading partners, and in order to further increase trade turnover, we are constantly and systematically working to eliminate barriers to mutual trade,” he said.
Khodjayev also emphasized the considerable potential for deepening investment cooperation and urged the more active utilization of emerging technoparks and innovative financial support mechanisms, such as the recently established Industrial Development Fund of Uzbekistan.
On October 5, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev set off on a working visit to Russia, which is scheduled to last until October 7, 2023.
In accordance with the program of the visit, the president of Uzbekistan will visit Kazan and get acquainted with its industrial potential, as well as hold a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
