Supporters of Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's bid for a second term in office plan to stage a demonstration in Tehran on a national day of mourning, Press Tv reported.
Ahmadinejad's student supporters will stage a 'mourning march' on Thursday to commemorate the anniversary of the demise of Fatimah Zahra, the revered daughter of the Prophet of Islam Mohammad (PBUH), Rajanews reported.
According to the report, the president himself will accompany the students on the March.
In contrast, rival presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi has asked his supporters to halt all campaign activities on Thursday to mark the sad occasion, which is an official holiday on the Iranian calendar.
The last prime minister of Iran (1981-1989) is expected to be the Principlist president's main rival in the June 12 vote.
