Iran raps foreign presence in PG region‎

Regional states can restore security and achieve stability without foreign presence if they use Middle East's resources appropriately, says a senior Iranian official, Press TV reported.

Head of Iran's presidential office Esfandiyar Rahim-Mashaei made the remark in a meeting with Bahraini King Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in Manamah on Tuesday, during which he submitted a written message from Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"The foreigners are only seeking psychological warfare and disturbing public opinion and intend to attain their goals by creating discord among regional nations," Fars news agency quoted Mashaei as saying.

Mashaei evaluated Tehran-Manamah ties as great, and stressed that Iran considers Bahrain's progress as its own.

"The Islamic Republic will always stand by Bahrain," he went on to say.

The Bahraini king, for his part, described the Tehran-Manamah relations as strategic and strong, saying the two states' ties are expanding in various fronts.

He blamed certain foreign countries for interfering in the region's affairs under the excuse of establishing democracy, saying these states have always sought to create rift among regional nations.

"Bahrain will strongly stand beside the Iranian nation and will never allow anyone to harm the state," he concluded.

Earlier in August, Bahrain's Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said his country would never be used as a launching pad to attack Iran.
