Kyrgyz President Underlines Bolstering Bilateral Ties with Iran

Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbaeva in a meeting with Iranian Minister of Cooperatives Mohammad Abbasi stressed her country's enthusiasm for the further reinvigoration of relations with Tehran, reported Fars News Agency.

During the meeting on Sunday Abbasi submitted formal invitation of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Otunbaeva to attend New Year's celebrations in Iran

Referring to religious, historical and cultural commonalties between Iran and Kyrgyzstan, Abbasi called for further expansion of bilateral cooperation in the economic fields.

The Kyrgyz president, meanwhile, hoped that the existing bilateral relations as well as the exchange of visits between the two sides would lead to boost in mutual ties.

President Ahmadinejad's administration has in recent years paid special attention to Tehran's economic, cultural and political cooperation with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Former Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in November underlined Tehran's support for the regional countries' collective cooperation and approach to the settlement of problems in the Central Asia.

Iran has always sought to resolve problems in the Middle East, Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Persian Gulf through a strategic approach and has always stressed the need for designing a regional mechanism to preserve durable security in the region.
