Iran and North Korea have signed a scientific and technological cooperation agreement.

The agreement was signed by Iranian Science Minister Kamran Daneshjoo and North Korean Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun in Tehran on Saturday, MNA reported.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, and Kim Yong Nam, president of North Korea's Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, were present at the signing ceremony.

The agreement will include setting up joint scientific and technological laboratories, exchange of scientific teams and transfer of technology in the fields of information technology, energy, environment, agriculture and food, reports said.

The North Korean officials had visited Tehran to participate in the Non-Aligned Movement summit which was concluded on Friday.

In a meeting on the sidelines of the NAM conference, Ahmadinejad said Kim's visit would have a ''great impact on strengthening bilateral ties, expanding cooperation and boosting the anti-hegemonic front.''
